| Who are we? |
| |
In our walks
of faith, we sometimes wrestle with issues
surrounding our sexuality. Some faith communities
may even shun us because we are different
sexually from the majority.
Evangelicals
Concerned (EC) provides safe and comfortable
places for men and women to reconcile their
Christian faith with their sexuality. By
fostering a supportive community of believers,
we desire to reunite people, regardless
of their sexual orientation, with our friend,
Jesus Christ.
So
if you're asking, can I be Christian and
gay? We enthusiastically say Yes!
If this sounds like
the type of group you've been looking for,
please take a moment to look around our
Web site and find out who we are and what
we're doing. We welcome you and encourage
you to contact us if you'd like more information
or would like to get involved. |

| What are we "concerned"
about? |
| |
Too many times we’ve heard the familiar
story about a man or woman who grew up loving
and serving God only to realize who they are
could alienate them from their church, maybe
their families, and seemingly from God. We
are concerned that even one person might abandon
their faith in Christ or suffer unnecessarily
as they wrestle with issues of sexual identity. |
| |
|
| What’s our
mission? |
| |
Evangelicals
Concerned (EC) is a non-denominational evangelical
resource providing a community of fellowship
that is a safe place for gay, lesbian, bisexual
and transgender Christians to reconcile
and integrate their faith and sexuality,
and to grow toward Christian maturity.
A national organization,
we are open and affirming to all who embrace
the Christian faith regardless of sexual
orientation, age, ethnicity, or church membership.
Through conferences, retreats, local groups,
resource materials, education, leadership
training, and personal support, EC serves
as a role model to all evangelicals (gay
or straight), to foster an integrated and
healthy GLBT Christian life. |

|
| What do we do? |
| |
We build supportive communities through
local activities and events including weekly
bible studies, monthly potlucks, and annual
retreats. Our goal is not to persuade anyone
how they should think, but to provide safe
places where those on their journey can ask
questions, express doubts and concerns, and
be cared for in a nurturing and uplifting
environment. |
| |
|
| How can you get
involved? |
| |
Our activities
are open to anyone who would like to participate
and we encourage you to join us.
It
can be difficult attending an activity or
event for the first time, especially when
you might not know anyone. Rest assured
that we will reach out and welcome you.
In
fact, when you call or e-mail us to find
out when and where our next activities are,
we would be happy to make a comfortable
introduction to one or two people who you
can connect with at your first event. They'll
be sure to answer any questions you have
and introduce you to others.
Our activities are designed to help build community among
believers and to help support and encourage
each other through the process of reconciling
our faith with our sexuality. You can be
as involved or uninvolved as you would like.

| What kind of Christians
are we? |
| |
Before you visit
one of our events, you might wonder, who
am I going to meet at an Evangelicals Concerned
event? We are a group of men and women from
a variety of backgrounds. We live in many
areas of the United States and Canada. We
have a wide assortment of Christian faith
backgrounds ranging from fundamentalist,
Pentecostal, Episcopal to Roman Catholic.
Because
we are from different Christian backgrounds,
we do not necessarily ascribe to any particular
set theology or way of looking at Scripture.
We do, however, respect
the Scriptures and are open to dialoguing
about various issues. We may share different
worship styles and core beliefs. But, we
try our best to embrace the differences
of our members and to honor our various
Christian heritages and backgrounds. |
| |
|
| Who will you meet? |
| |
You'll probably
meet people with very similar backgrounds
and experiences to your own and others with
very different backgrounds. These differences
provide a great backdrop from which to explore
your own faith journey.
If you're ready to get involved, simply give us a call
or e-mail us and we'll happily get you
connected! |

|
| What’s the
sales pitch? |
| |
Our
goal is not to persuade anyone - one way
or the other - but to provide a safe place
where those on their journey can ask questions,
express doubts and concerns, and be cared
for in a nurturing and uplifting environment.
